Growth Mindset
Growth vs Fixed Mindset
A growth mindset is believing that your brain can grow and you can learn many new things. You are not born smart; you become smart.
A fixed mindset is believing that you cannot learn new things. You are born with your knowledge and skills and cannot get smarter.
The brain is like a muscle and just like when you lift weights, when you exercise your brain, it will get bigger and stronger.
Growth Mindset
Developing the right mindset early on is crucial for a successful, happy life. When children learn that putting forth effort and using the right strategies can help them get better at things, they feel empowered, and try harder. When they know their brains are capable of growing, they are more confident, resilient, and are not afraid to make mistakes.
Here at Hextable Primary School we teach children to have a growth mindset and a "can do" attifude.
